Location:
The hotel is centrally located on the Pest side of Budapest in a lively culture-packed area with popular ruin pubs, tourist sights, and restaurants, all within walking distance. I found the location to be extremely convenient and was able to walk to most of the attractions that I wanted to see. However, if walking isn’t your thing there is a metro station nearby, just 3 minutes away. Overall the location is rated at 9.5 on booking.com and I completely agree with this rating.

Accommodations:
The Cortile Hotel Budapest offers a range of rooms and suites. We opted for a standard double room. This room featured modern amenities such as free high speed Wi-Fi, a flat-screen TV, air conditioning, a mini bar and coffee machine (which is a must for me!). The room was well presented and stylish, extremely clean, with a large comfortable bed. The bed even even came with a pillow menu so we could choose from a selection of pillows to your preference which is something I haven’t experience in a hotel before! The bathroom had glass cubicles for the shower and toilet but there was a curtain that could be drawn around for privacy so this wasn’t an issue and the shower pressure was excellent! There was a nice selection of complementary toiletries and the bathroom was equiped with a hairdryer. Overall, I was very pleased with the room.

Facilities:

Rooftop Bar and Pool

The hotel’s rooftop bar and pool unquestionably stole the spotlight during our stay! The water and pool area itself was lovely and warm and the bar staff made excellent cocktails. Special mention for the mojitos! What truly enhanced our experience was the seamless service; we simply provided our room number and enjoyed the convenience of charging drinks to our room until checkout, saving us the hassle of carrying our purse or wallet to the pool. The staff would even bring our drinks to us in the pool, now that’s service! We also found out that you could ask for robes at reception so we wore these to the pool area. Additionally at the pool area, there was a hot water station with a selection of complementary teas and a generous fruit bowl. We spent most of our evenings relaxing in the pool with a drink after a long day of exploring! There was also a rooftop terrace outside where drinks could be enjoyed with a view of the city.

There is no fitness centre available but you wouldn’t catch me working out on holiday anyway!

The staff at the Cortile Hotel were very friendly, professional, and attentive. When we checked in we were offered a cold or hot drink and the member of staff gave us plenty of information about the hotel and the city itself. He gave us a map and explained how to get to various attractions from the hotel. Each time re-entered the hotel after a day out we received a friendly welcome back. Every staff member we encountered from reception to the cleaning staff gave us a friendly greeting. This was one of the best customer service experiences I’ve had at a hotel and from the moment we checked-in to the moment we left we feel welcomed and valued.

Breakfast:

A buffet breakfast was included with our booking. This consisted of a large selection of breakfast items such as fresh fruits, granola, cheese and breads and it varied each day. There was great coffee and a selection of fresh juices. There was even sparking hungarian wine available at breakfast for an extra touch of elegance! There was also a selection of pastries available in the breakfast room all throughout the day.

Overall Impression:
The Cortile Hotel was a great choice in that it was comfortable, stylish, and centrally-located. The rooftop pool really topped off the experience for us and the staff were a huge credit to the hotel. If you’re looking for a luxury boutique hotel in a great spot I would certainly recommend the Cortile Hotel. It’s absolutely one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in and I’ve been dreaming about returning ever since I left!
